I'm wainting to say that in 07 or maybe 08 there was another redesign and it got rid of a lot of the problems? But I remember reading about people similar problems with cobalts, and maybe malibu's and what ever saturn car is simular to the G6 and malibu? There's a service bulliting for that 06 G6 problem and their solution is to spray grease on it until it stops, but it will start again in about 20,000 miles. And its my understanding that in 06 they redesigned it and then had problems with a steering clunk in the intermediate steering shaft. I think its more than just a cobalt problem and more of a complete GM problem.Ġ5 Pontiac G6's had the same problem with the electric assist power steering going out. Unfortunately, in all the internet searches, I can't find a consensus on whether fixing this involves an hour under the dash replacing a $30 part or taking it to a mechanic to have him replace the entire $400-$500 steering column.Ĭan anyone tell me exactly what I can do to get this resolved as cheaply as possible? I have a 2005 Cavalier with the 2.2L Ecotec so I figured it was the same configuration. She pulled over, restarted the car and it didn't do it again the rest of the ride. I'm new here on the board - my girlfriend drives a 2006 Cobalt LT and recently she was driving down the road and got a little "ding-ding-ding" sound, "POWER STEERING" came up on the LCD and she lost power steering in the car.
